FILM/TV
Renan has been a member of the Screen Actor's Guild working on TV Shows and Films shot in New York City since 2013. Amongst Acting in Award winning Independent and Short Films, Renan has also been seen on the Big Screen and ABC's Drama Quantico.

THEATRE
Having studied Performance Arts at Bilkent Univerity, Renan spent her summers learning Commedia Del'Arte and Shakespeare in the UK. She was trained in Method Acting by Russian teachers and did an extensive Masters training in New York studying Meisner. She has performed as the leading female at the European Theatre Festival in 2009 working with award winning director Yucel Erten and continued appearing on stage on off-broadway stages in New York City performing in Theatre Festivals and Cabarets.
MUSIC
Renan has always had an ear for Music. She started learning classical piano when she was 11 and picked up various instruments including the Flute, Cello and the Saxophone. Besides classical piano concerts, she has performed on stage singing Jazz with her ukulele.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Being a scholastic athlete, Renan has always been interested in new physical challenges. She has competed in long jump, marathons, basketball, swimming and rowing in high school and was trained in stage and camera stunts. Renan is mostly known for her passion for her unicycle that she picked up when she was just 8 years old. Additionally, Renan will always have a trick up her sleeve and try to solve things that seem unsolvable.

ABOUT
NYC based Producer, Writer and Performance Artist, Renan's story starts in Bonn/Germany. She was born to Turkish parents, daughter to a Diplomat father and an Educator mother. She started school in the Netherlands and went to international schools in Europe. Spending Summers in England learning about Music Theory and Shakespeare, Renan decided to continue her career in Performance Arts.

2012 Renan moved to America to study Filmmaking in California. During her Masters degree she picked up Photography and continued playing Music and joined the improv group at the Groudlings.

After graduation, Renan moved to NYC to pursue a career in Film. Since then, she has worked in Film/TVProductions, performed live in Cabarets and Off-Broadway shows and is also an Actor Trainer for the NYPD Crisis Intervention Team training New York City Police officers in empathy.
She is also an active member of the community, working with Animal foundations such as the Wild Bird Fund and Urban Utopia Wildlife Center and is a Mentor for Homeless Children's Theatre Program at the Actor's Theatre Workshop.
Katharsis
Katharsis Llc. was formed in 2016 as a Media Production company that brings together Artists and Non-Profit companies on projects that raise awareness for Animals and Environment related issues. The Founder, Renan Kanbay, has worked closely with the Wild Bird Fund and Urban Utopia Wildlife Center as a volunteer and continues to develop projects themed in 'Art for Animals'. The Company also offers professional photography and videography services and has worked with multiple companies in Marketing and Branding consulting amongst graphic design work.
